NSS Committee at Vikas Intitutions

The service Scheme was launched in 1969. It aims at the involvement mainly of undergraduate students on a voluntary basis in various activities of welfare work and national development which while making a contribution to socio-economic progress would also provide opportunities to the scholars to know and appreciate the issues of the communities, awaken social consciousness and inculcate in them a way of dignity of labour.

The University Grants Commission headed by Dr.Radhakrishnan recommended introduction of service within the academic institutions on a voluntary basis with a view to developing healthy contacts between the scholars and teachers on the one hand and establishing a constructive linkage between the campus and therefore the community on the opposite hand.

To offer a top quality professional education and training blended with a high sense of discipline and ethics to shape the scholars into people that can play an efficient role within the development of a knowledge society and thereby striving to bring the sunshine into the lives around them with human outlook.

NSS Roles & Responsibilities

  • To coordinate NSS activities in accordance with the students’ ability and community demands.
  • To coordinate internal resources available within the sort of teaching expertise of teachers for enhancing the knowledge and skills of the scholars in implementation of the scheme and
  • To coordinate various external resources available within the sorts of government services; welfare agencies and voluntary bodies for the success of the NSS programme.
  • To prepare orientation programme for NSS volunteers, explain them about the concept of welfare work , and teach them methods and skills required for achieving the objectives of the scheme;
  • To promote community education through meetings, talks, news bulletins discussions etc.; and
  • To help in formulating NSS programmes which can have direct relationship with the tutorial.
